Just Muse Me Prompt 16 - Best Friend

kerfloopeywitch Do you have a best friend? How did you meet and how does your friendship last?
A best friend? I have two! Fine. I'll talk about Xander because most people already know how I met Buffy. *g* That sounds like the title of a movie or show. Anyway, Xander and I met in kindergarten. It was love at first sight. No, it wasn't. I mean I didn't really notice him during class. Well, a little but not more than boy, cooties, crayons, cooties.
It was the first day after school that I really noticed him. He was sitting waiting for his parents to pick him up like me. Both of us forgotten. The second was the same and so was the third. The fourth day we were silently sitting together waiting for our parents to remember us. By the fifth day we were laughing and talking, a friendship was born.
I can honestly say that I wouldn't be the person that I am or even alive if it weren't for Xander. He's saved me from despair and grounded me in so many different ways. Our friendship might have been born from dysfunction but it is one of the best things in my life.
How does our friendship last? Through hard work and compromise. It lasts the way any relationship lasts, because we want it to.
