It was a big step for Willow. Something that she wouldn't admit to Kennedy but it was the first time since Kitty Fantastico that Willow had a pet. Willow wondered if subconsciously she hadn't wanted one because it would be her finally saying good-bye to Tara. She'd always told Tara it was because they traveled a lot and no one would be home long enough for it. That excuse was now gone since they didn't travel as much as before and Kennedy had asked her to meet her in front off the pet shop.
She pulled herself from thoughts of Tara and looked into the window and promptly fell in love. It was the blue wide eyes that met her green ones she later decided. They seemed to be begging her to take her home and Willow couldn't say no.
"Hey." Kennedy slipped her arm around Willow's waist and looked into the window. "See anything you like?"
Willow turned to Kennedy with a smile. "Yep, the one with brown hair." She placed a quick kiss on her lips and turned back to the window. "If you mean pets, I like the grey one with the blue eyes." Willow hadn't meant to but there was a wistful quality to her voice.
"Yeah? I'm kinda partial to ones with red hair and green eyes but I guess grey with blue wouldn't be so bad. Let's go buy a kitten."
Without even thinking about it, Willow stepped inside the pet store with Kennedy. The step that had seemed so insurmountable when she arrived had whittled down to something easily navigated and rarely thought about.
